Lead QAT Analyst

Salary: £56,000 per annum
Location: Hybrid / Remote (with secure location access as required by the Buyer)
Job Summary
The Lead QAT Analyst is responsible for developing, governing, and maintaining the test strategy across assigned government programmes, including public sector security portfolios. The role provides test leadership within a multi-supplier environment and ensures robust scenario governance, controlled defect lifecycles, and quality assurance alignment to Buyer-specific technical and operational standards.
The role interfaces with QA Governance leads, delivery managers, and Buyer-side stakeholders to define quality gates, test reporting metrics, and traceability across system requirements. The position requires participation in agile ceremonies, change boards, defect review sessions, and performance reporting cycles.
- ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst or Test Manager (mandatory)
- Agile Testing or Scrum Alliance Certification (desirable)
- Eligibility for UK Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance (mandatory); SC clearance preferred
- Evidence of continuing professional development, such as vendor accreditations or online test automation training
Responsibilities
- Lead definition and implementation of test strategy aligned to delivery scope and Buyer expectations
- Provide test assurance sign-off at release, deployment, and go-live stages
- Design test scenarios, scripts, and traceability matrices in compliance with QA governance standards
- Manage defect lifecycle end-to-end, including triage, severity assignment, and closure audit
- Coordinate cross-functional testers and interface with security analysts, developers, and BA teams
- Maintain test artefacts in tools such as Jira, Zephyr, and Azure DevOps
Required Experience
- Minimum of five years' experience in Quality Assurance, Test Analysis, or QA Governance
- Proven leadership of test workstreams in large-scale digital or government programmes
- Hands-on experience with structured defect management and scenario-based testing
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies
- Knowledge of testing against secure or critical platforms such as PNC, PND, NAS, IDENT1, or equivalent
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary, multi-vendor QA delivery environments
- Support continuous improvement by refining processes and tools in alignment with QA best practices
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent
- Agile Testing or Scrum Alliance Certification (desirable)
- Evidence of continuing professional development, such as vendor accreditations or online test automation training
- Strong analytical skills
